ABOUT THE WINE REGIONS
we visit from FrankfurT, BONN & Heidelberg
Spätburgunder or Gewürztraminer doesn't roll easily off the tongue, but both these German wines do flow very well down your throat. Germany and wine? Expect the unexpected on our Weinköpfe grape escapes!
When it comes to the world of wine Germany has been in the wine game since the Romans and offers some of the world's most elegant and aromatic wine varieties, most notably for the noble Riesling. But getting your hands on a bottle outside of Germany can be hard to find. The regions best-kept wine secrets are rarely exported as locals love every last drop. This is why Weinköpfe exists. Our German wine tours aim to share with you the best quality wines, most beautiful views, historical sights and culinary delights the regions of Germany have to offer. We believe wine was made for sharing so tours are in small groups or can be requested private.
We specialise on wine tours to the wine regions of Rheinhessen, Rheingau, Mosel and Pfalz. These regions often get compared to being the "Burgundy & Tuscany of Germany". With warmer microclimates, unique terroir they are rich with their own unique wine culture and history. This combined with stunning scenery of castles sitting majestically on cliff tops as vibrant green vineyards roll steeply along the Rhine and Mosel rivers.
With independent winemakers in every town, it's hard to choose which corks to pop. You can trust our local knowledge to take you beyond cellar doors to meet the makers and experience personal wine tastings from award-winning wineries.
if you are planning a trip to Germany let me know and I can help tailor the perfect tour for you. Id be happy help to advise you on the best place to stay.

MEET THE WEINKÖPFE

DO YOU BELIEVE IN CHANCE?
I BELIEVE EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A RIESLING
Carl Wiesner - chief Wienkopf
For more than 15 years I’ve been on a nonstop grape escape to find the best food and wine. Living in the bustling cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Amsterdam and Hamburg I have now landed in the wine paradise of the Rhine Valley.
Travelling to wine regions and discovering new wines has been my passion for years, having visited numerous regions in Europe and Australia. Falling in love with the wine regions of Germany, I've realised I'd like to help all wine-loving travellers discover the beauty and lesser known story of German wine which is rich in culture, history and above all else world class wines!
Why Weinköpfe?
Easy, I'm head over heels in love with wine, a true "winehead" (Weinkopf, translated in German). I obsess over three things: wine, sharing stories and meeting other Weinköpfe. It's the simple things I enjoy most in life. I believe sharing a good glass of wine over salami and cheese with great company is all that it takes.
Although for all the Weinköpfe out there I know that wine is not a simple subject and good wine is quite a personal matter. I'm trying to take wine not too seriously, but I do like to meet those who do. I'm inspired by the passionate makers who put their lives' work, heart and soul into the glass you're about to swirl, sniff and slurp... true to the saying "every empty bottle has a great story to tell." Zum Wöhl!
