MOSEL WINE REGION

stay in luxury at 19th century Schloss
Hotel Schloss Lieser Mosel

Schloss Lieser

When people think of traveling to Germany a Schloss is always on the itinerary for a must visit. So why not stay in one? On the banks of the Mosel river you can find the 19th century grand palace Schloss Lieser that has been meticulously restored to detail. The Schloss is now part of the Marriott group if that helps you get points/better rates. Next to the hotel their is an award winning winery Schloss Lieser  ( same name - but not associated anymore) Which will give you good introduction to great Mosel Riesling in all its glory. Schloss Lieser is a great staring point to explore the famous Mittel Mosel wine region or even head more south towards Trier for a visit to the roman ruins of Porta Negra and then further to exploring the unique Saar part of the Southern Mosel.

A hotel with Art Nouveau charm and beautiful interior details you dont see anymore
Romance and Wine at the Romantik Bellevue Hotel

Romantik Jugendstilhotel Bellevue

The wine village of Traben Trarbach was once one of the wealthiest villages in Europe… all off the back of its wealth of GOLD… Golden Riesling Grapes. The villages features a wealth of fascinating buildings with architectural treasures from art nouveau and the Belle Epoque romanticsm. This historic hotel  is an example of the glory days located directly on the Mosel,  surrounded by the beautiful wine and cultural landscape of the village. The hotel features a rooftop spacious beauty and wellness area offers the ideal setting for a relaxing holiday for body, mind and soul. Traben Trarbach is a great starting point for a Mosel wine tour as many of the famous Grand Cru wine villages and also acclaimed producers like J.J Prüm or Markus Molitor are within about 30-45 min drive.

Moselschlösschen

Another top wine hotel in Traben Trarbach which has just been modernly refurbished and features an even larger spa area ( and is adults only) is the Moselschlösschen. Rooms feel spacious and again your right down by the river and easy parking is offered. The Spa area offers different options to sweat out all the Riesling you will be slurping down while you are in the Mosel.

RHEIN VALLEY REGION

go for a swim and drink a sparkling wines on the roof top of the hotel
Rooftop Rhein Views - Papa Rhein Hotel

Papa Rhein Hotel - Bingen, Rheinhessen

It’s all about the views here. A recently built hotel right on the Rhein river edge with 180 degree panoramic views across the Rhein valley to the vineyards of the Rhiengau. The hotel features rooftop pool and bar to soak up the views while you soak your self in a glass of Riesling. Downstairs there is a modern spa area and cinema. If you get hungry there is a more causal - Italian option or gourmet restaurant to choose from. Papa Rhein is a great starting point to explore several wine regions. The Rhiengau is just over the Rhine and your technically already in the Rheinhessen wine region. The Nahe is also just around the corner. The Mosel of Pfalz is also a bit over 1hr away. As Papa Rhein does tend to only offer 2 night stay during the busy summer seasons... If you're thirsty why not consider a 2 or 3 days custom grape escape exploring several wine regions of Germany.

Burg Schwarzenstein, Rheingau

Set above the beautiful vineyards views of the wine village of Johannisberg (same village as the famous Riesling winery of Schloss Johanissberg). This modern designed but modest hotel built along side a castle tower has a luxury but comfortable feel. Its all about eating, drinking and sleeping well here… but being in the vineyards you can easily go for a nice stroll to build up an appetite and thirst!

A romantic small lesser known castle hotel perched up high above the Rhien above the Rhine village of Oberwessel. The rooms are traditionally and authentically decorated like you are living in the middle ages. The hotel restaurant also serves some regional German cooking with game and herbs from the forrest. There is nice Rhine hiking tracks also close by to the hotel. From this hotel you can do a wine tour through the Rhein valley to the Rheingau or Nahe wine regions. The Mosel is also about 1 hr away.

 PFALZ

Situated in the heart of the glorious wine town of Deidesheim, another very wealthy wine villages of Germany. Ketschauer Hof is a short walk from fo some of the leading and most well known Pfalz wine producers Dr Bassermann Jordan, Von Winning,Weingut Reichsrat von Buhl. The hotel only has about 18 rooms so has a boutique feel and features a Michelin start restaurant. Ketschauer Hof is centrally located to the Pfalz on the Deutcher weinstrasse. Its a great place to explore the best Riesling of the middle pfalz even heading south to the French influenced more hilly part of the Pfalz, possibly crossing into Wissembourg (Alsace for lunch). If offer this wine tour in the Grape day out Pfalz - Alsace lunch tour.
